CREATIVITY: the use of the imagination or original ideas, especially in the production of an artistic work.
We are all creative. I believe that with every fiber of my being. All too often, in my opinion, our confidence in our creativity gets trained out of us somewhere along the way. Some are fortunate to regain that confidence early; some regain it later. For some, (sadly…. heartbreakingly) that confidence in their creativity is never rediscovered.
Jeff (my DH) and I love B&Bs. We B&B-hopped for our honeymoon nearly 28 years ago. And, we’ve dreamed of having a B&B “someday”. As my quilting life has grown and evolved, so did our B&B dream. Nearly a year ago, our dream became realized (in its own evolved way) when we opened The Creative Place, a retreat for artists.
Over the past year, The Creative Place has been the “venue for creativity to blossom” for a variety of groups. Mostly quilters (I’m sure that comes as no surprise), and also scrapbookers and Zentangle classes and other groups. The Creative Place is available for most any art-related group: writing / journaling, knitters / crocheters, musicians, ……
Did you know that this weekend is International Rug-hooking Weekend? Actually, tomorrow, December 4, is International Rug Hooking Day. Many Happy (Rug) Hookers are celebrating their craft this weekend all around the world. It just so happens that there is a big group of rug hookers at The Creative Place today.
This is the joyful sight that greeted me when I stopped in to visit them this afternoon. A room full of people “creating” and crafting and doing what they love. THAT is exactly what I envisioned when I dreamed of The Creative Place!!! The room was/is filled with creative energy, conversation, laughter, smiles….., as it is every time a group inhabits the space. And, every time I witness such, I feel JOY!
